13 ° secolo mulino Affascinante e completamente restaurato castello di oliva, trasformato in una lussuosa casa di campagna, situato appena fuori dal muro di cinta del Castello di Montegiove.

Montegiove è un grazioso e tranquillo villaggio di campagna medievale, vicino alle principali vie di comunicazione e equidistante di Roma (154 km) e Firenze (151 km), è una base ideale per esplorare i tesori storici di Umbria e Toscana, in particolare la campagna di le province storiche di Orvieto, Todi, Spoleto, Perugia e Siena.

La casa è dotata di TV satellitare, connessione a Internet ad alta velocità, riscaldamento autonomo, cucina completamente attrezzata con lavastoviglie, un servizio lavanderia e stenditoio. La casa è arredata in stile tradizionale di una casa centrale padronale italiano con una combinazione di buon gusto di mobili antichi e moderni. Servizio di pulizia extra e cuoco privato possono anche essere organizzati.

Il noleggio include riscaldamento, cambio settimanale di lenzuola e asciugamani, pulizia finale normale e le tasse.

Il piano terra è composto da un ampio soggiorno sala da pranzo con camino e biblioteca, una cucina con accesso ad un piccolo patio, una camera matrimoniale con vista sulla vallata e un ampio bagno con doccia. Il primo piano è composto da un lungo corridoio, due camere matrimoniali di cui una con una bellissima vista sulla valle, l'altro con porte-finestre che puntano verso il castello. Un bagno moderno ben progettato con lavandino in marmo, vasca e doccia.

Il giardino ha una zona pranzo, comode sedie a sdraio e una splendida vista sulla valle.

Il castello di Montegiove è esistito sin dagli inizi del 12 ° secolo e ha negli ultimi quattro secoli di proprietà della Marchesi Misciattelli.

Oggi, ancora a conduzione familiare, è il centro di una tenuta che copre quasi 3000 acri di splendida campagna umbra, dove le foreste di querce, vigneti, campi di ulivi e si fondono terreno arabile in totale armonia con le antiche mura a secco e case coloniche costruite in pietra locale.

I principali prodotti della tenuta sono il vino, l'olio d'oliva, cereali, semi oleosi, bovini da carne di razza chianina, foraggio e prodotti forestali. Vi è una ricca fauna selvatica come cinghiali e cervi, e la flora locale, tra cui tartufi e funghi. Gli splendidi dintorni e l'ambiente incontaminato rendono difficile credere che Montegiove è a soli 17 km dall'autostrada principale in Italia A1 (Milano - Napoli), che collega Roma e Firenze.

Fantastic holiday in the castle

Wonderful location in a full equipment apartment very close to a fascinating castle, on a airy hill in the nature with a beautiful landscape. Rikke and Lorenzo are fantastic hosts, always available and kindly with a particular and interesting history; there you can buy an excellent wine, olive oil and truffles! Top cleaning, comfortable swimming pool and strategic position to visit Umbria…dream holiday!!!

Magnifico

Un posto splendido, all'interno di un castello tenuto molto bene. Piscina magnifica condivisa con altri 2 appartamenti e sempre pulitissima. Appartamento molto molto grande, in 6 ci si sta benissimo. Proprietari super gentili, ci hanno offerto la visita al castello, degustazione, vino e olio. Non posso far altro che consigliare e lasciare 5 stelle! (L'unico coniglio che posso dare al proprietario... montare delle zanzariere).

Exceptional and memorable experience

There are not enough words to describe how wonderful our stay and experience were at Castello di Montegiove. Rikki and Lorenzo were the most fantastic hosts and humans who facilitated a once in a lifetime opportunity in their “home” and community. They were kind and extremely well-organized with everything one would need for a week-long stay in one of the most beautiful parts of Italy. This was our last week of a 5 week trip and it was by far the most memorable. The accommodations were so special, exceptionally clean, and highlighted the character of the castle all while offering modern amenities. The castle and property overall could not possibly have been more picturesque. Rikki and Lorenzo offered a fabulous tour of the castle and winery and we thoroughly enjoyed many bottles during our stay. Day tripping is a breeze to Rome, Florence, Perugia, and all the gems around and in between. Staying local and exploring on foot was just as lovely. The pool was a dream during the July heat but the cool breeze in the evening kept the rooms at a lovely temperature. Rikki set up a private chef for us to hire for each of our dinners and it was the most incredible experience - not only the exquisite and authentic food, teaching us so much about the Italian culture, but also getting to know and fall in love with our new friend, Giovanni. We were so sad to leave and will bend over backwards to return one day. Grazie Rikki, Lorenzo, e Giovanni!

Magical & Spectacular Place

The Montegiove Castle is a very special, magical and beautiful place. This is also greatly due to the hosts running it who are amazing and very special too. From our very first initial inquiry to booking this beautiful place until we said our goodbyes, the process was easy and pleasant. During our stay we were welcomed with a clean and a home ready to unpack our bags and settle in. The pool is just a beautiful walk around the castle and the view from the infinity pool is this never ending view of landscape, flowers and trees. Beautiful patio to eat outside which become our breakfast area. Since it was our first time in Italy and new to the area, Rikkie and Lorenzo were always available to make the best recommendations to places near by and areas that were a must see. Every restaurant and cities recommended were perfect. My husband and I are wine lovers and have to say, their wines are the best we’ve ever had. I took some of their wines home and they were kind enough to wrap them to ensure that they got home safe, which they did! We arrived the second week of June and stayed for a week. The weather was just perfect. The pictures you see does not give justice to what a beautiful ambience inside and out this place has to offer. The peace and the sounds of nature you get are simply priceless. We were able to coordinate a private chef for a couple nights and Giovanni is a magnificent cook. Our family of 4 have created a magnificent core memory that will last a life time ❤️

Remarkable stay in Umbrian castle

We friends stayed at Montegiove for a week in June ‘23. Rikki and her family were great hosts at this remote castle. The accommodations were updated, spacious, clean, and mostly comfortable. The kitchen was very modern and useable. The setting is spectacular, on top of a hill, surrounded by beautiful countryside. We wished there had been a better outside patio accessible to our unit. The patio for us was down 20 steps, around the corner and thus not really a place to just step outside and eat or gather. This is an old castle building, so windows are very small, and the view is enjoyable only if you are standing by the window. Not their fault…just the way it is. There is a pool, but it is quite a hike to the pool, so not easily accessible. We had imagined that being on top of a hill, our views from the unit and grounds would be amazing. They are, but you have to trek a ways to see them. We are all 80, so perhaps if you are younger and more eager to do steps the villa would be more suitable. Also, the castle is about 7 kilometers from the nearest town, but we enjoyed day trips to six or so other small towns 30-90 minutes away. They took us on a wonderful tour of the main castle and that included wine tasting, but unfortunately there were so many on the tour that it was difficult to hear and see. We admire the hosts for their efforts at Montegiove. Preserving a castle is quite a task. All in all, I would recommend.

In 2002 we moved from Copenhagen in Denmark, where we both grew up, to Montegiove to take over the daily management of the family estate “Castello di Montegiove”. We have never regretted this decision, even though the first years in Montegiove were not at all like a fairytale. The castle and the old Olive mill had to be completely restored; the roofs all had big holes so we spent all rainy days running around with pots and pans to pick up the water. Today the castle and Olive mill has been through a thorough and respectful renovation. Lorenzo: I spent almost all my childhood summers together with my grandfather in Montegiove, following daily life at the estate and in the wine cellar. I still recall adventuring round in the castle and walks in the splendid and unspoiled nature around Montegiove. I always hoped, that one day, I could take care of the estate, and that happened after years of study at the “Royal Veterinarian and Agricultural University” and the “University of Aberdeen” ending up with a Ph.D. and a short carrier as scientist and assistant professor, before moving to Italy. Rikke: I worked with pattern making and designs in the fashion industry before moving to Italy. My big passion is decorating and putting things in order so moving to a place like this where everything needed a loving hand has been a fantastic challenge for me. Today I am the practical person in the household making all ends meet for our busy modern family. We still feel so lucky waking up in the morning and looking out at the beautiful valley, and we are never getting tired of the absolute silence and peace that is so rare to find in the modern world of today. Sometimes the clouds are hanging lower than Montegiove and it feels like we are on an island in the middle of the sea.
