This large bright apartment of 180 square meters is on the 3rd floor of an old building, but fortunately there is an elevator! The apartment has recently been renovated, added new furniture and furnishings. There are big windows overlooking Florence's roofs, so there is a lot of natural light.
My mother is a great interior designer, so everything that was done here has been designed by her. We didn’t change much of the structure of the house. We only divided the space inside in order to make the rooms more comfortable.
She decided to use a lot of vintage furniture. So we went all over Italy looking for armchairs, tables, lamps, abat-jours, wardrobes etc. Then there are armchairs, sofas, cupboards and tables from the 50’s and the 60’s that we bought and restored.
I think her major ability was keeping a really good balance between the look of the contemporary architecture and furniture, the refined antiques and the touch of the warm and historic building.
Ceilings are high and there are wooden floors throughout the house. The kitchen is very functional and well equipped with oven, microwave, dishwasher and a large fridge.
One of the three bedrooms has an attached private bathroom and a large double bed. This is the quietest room in the house because there are no roads under its double-glazed windows. During the night seems to be away from the city!
The other two bedrooms are also spacious and have high ceilings too. One of this has a loft made during the last renovation in order to take full advantage of the large space. In this bedroom there is a double bed, and the sofa bed can be opened if the guests are more than six.
Obviously we provide clean sheets and towels for all the guests. I collect them every week in a professional laundry that do this type of service for small hotels and b&b. Hygiene is our first mission!
Unfortunately, I have to use a sentence which is really overused by all the hoteliers but... all of my guests, when they sign our guest book write that it is really like being home away from home.
The place is very elegant and beautiful, but very welcoming and homey at the same time.
So that’s the essence; it’s very elegant but very informal. Everybody feels like at home, so they can just pretend it's their house, going to the living room, preparing a coffee, watching TV.
The house is located in a strategic position in the heart of Florence, few steps far from Piazza Santo Spirito, Pitti Palace, Ponte Vecchio and the Boboli Garden, in a limited traffic area and generally sheltered from the noise of the city.
