The story begins with Tom & Carrie Witt, from Hamden, CT. Carrie and Tom both fell in love with Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park on their honeymoon in October 1995. They came back every year and purchased the cottage in 2004. Over the years, when the cottage wasn’t being rented by visitors Carrie and Tom shared their home, love, knowledge, and stories of Acadia with family and friends. It was during one of these visits that Carrie and Tom first introduced friends, Kim & Bill Wieler to Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Much time was spent outdoors biking, hiking, cross country skiing and snowshoeing in and around the park, crossing the sand bar at low tide to reach Bar Island to enjoy the fields of lupine on their way to the top to view the harbor or by exploring downtown Bar Harbor and surrounding areas. Kim and Bill have been coming back ever since. Sadly, Tom passed away in 2010 and then Carrie in 2012. Their love for Asygarth Cottage and Acadia never diminished. They both found joy, peace, strength, and endless courage in the quiet trails and majestic vistas of Acadia. Kim and Bill will be forever grateful for their friendship and hospitality and now would like to welcome you to Bar Harbor Cottage.
