anything but luxurious
Our group stayed in the Villa Pallazio from Feb1st to the 8th, 2014. It was nowhere close to the luxurious stay that was promised. We have stayed in a number of villas in the past and this was by far the absolute worst experience we have ever had. Not only were numerous amenities that were promised not available, basic functions were also not working. Especially when travelling with children, this is absolutely unacceptable. Furthermore, once we brought the issues to the attention of Anneke/the owner, it took numerous follow ups and a long time to resolve.
1. The house had absolutely NO hot water. We arrived Saturday and didn't get any hot water until Wednesday, more than half way into our vacation.
2. The air conditioner didn't work in 2 rooms where small children were staying as well as the kitchen and supposed "5th bedroom" This also didn't get fixed until Wednesday. The kitchen and "5th bedroom" didn't have any AC throughout the entire stay.
3. The sewer pump was not turned on until Thursday leaving the house smelling like feces. The only reason it was finally turned on was due to a neighbor complaint. Once it was turned on, the back up wasn't cleaned out and the entire outside of the house, including the pool area smelled like sewage making it barely usable. This wasn't only unpleasant but an extreme sanitary issue. 3 people in the house were sick with a stomach bug that may have been caused by this.
4. The towels were not properly washed. When we finally were able to get someone to replace them and wash them midweek, they were taken for the entire day leaving us with no towels for an entire day.
5. We were unable to get into the house for 45 minutes upon our arrival. Anneke was unreachable.
6. The "5th bedroom" was not properly converted to a bedroom. It had no door or anything remotely resembling a door to provide any sort of privacy.
7. The pool was dirty and unkept. We wonder if it was even properly chlorinated either and just filled with a hose - again a big sanitary issue. We were told it would be cleaned on Tuesday but no one ever came.
8. Basic amenities that were not present but promised via emails with Anneke: a gas grill, washer and dryer, a safe, a phone for basic communication locally making it nearly impossible to reach anyone to even correct these issues
Would NOT recommend this house to anyone at all! Even after all of this, they only refunded a small fraction of our stay after endless attempts to contact them.
