Perfect for our Holiday get together

Located close to port Angeles activities and Victoria B.C. ferry - this home was perfect for us. Kitchen was stocked with just about every appliance needed for the two major meals we prepared for ourselves and the living and dining areas were very comfortable and good for holiday activities. Hiking trails in the Olympic National Park were a short walk away (We loved the Living Forest Nature Trail and the Peabody Creek Trail - both start from the Visitor Center). Hurricane Ridge Rd is close by. We did indeed wish we lived here by the end of our stay.

What a wonderful place to stay for our three families with young children! The views and backyard were better than advertised, the house was clean, spacious, very well stocked, kid friendly, and convenient location for where we wanted to go (Hurricane Ridge)!

THE BEST!

I can not say enough nice things about this home! We were 4 couples on a hiking trip to Olympic. This home is centrally located to everything we did and very close to town. But the main thing is the beauty of this home with the sweeping views of the ocean. The home was so well equipped compared to many other rental homes we've had. It was like we moved into a friend's home. The family who owns it must be very generous and trusting! Soooo many nice things--well stocked kitchen, soap and shampoo in bathrooms (WITH HEATED FLOORS!), laundry detergent--we couldn't ask for more! The great room was comfy and perfect for gathering--with a Yamaha piano, no less! The backyard had fun for all ages--delightful patio, garden, swings, trampoline. The property managers were easy to communicate with although we had no problems. I would HIGHLY recommend this rental!

Perfect Port Angeles house for our group of 6

Spacious, clean, well equipped house for our small group of 6. The house can accommodate a lot more.The “L-shaped” open floor plan with well lit floor to ceiling glass felt more like a resort than home. Afternoon hot tub was a major plus, as was the basement media room. Prompt communication with the property manager was appreciated. The covered carport around back offered plenty of space for cars. Logistically you’re a short drive to downtown, a Safeway grocery store and literally around the corner from the drive to Mount Angeles area within the National Park. Our group felt spoiled, can’t image staying in a local hotel after this experience… I’m trying to recall objective comments or areas of improvement - the only thing that comes to mind is changing the springs on the trampoline, they’re well worn.

Great stay for ONP adventure

With a convenient location and a spectacular view, the Retreat makes a great HQ for any visit to Olympic National Park. The home is spacious, clean and thoughtfully presented; it was incredibly comfy for our group of six and the property manager was great with which to work. We loved it! ONP day hiking was lovely! Marmot Pass…Buckhorn Mtn…Mt Townsend…Badger Valley to Grand Valley…the Hoh Rainforest…and Grand Valkey to Elk Mtn…each offers different terrain and views for miles. Plus, there’s PA itself. We enjoyed Buena Luz Bakery (OMG, the scones!); NW Coffee Country; Bean Me Up; Bella Italia; and Spruce.

Amelia grew up in Port Angeles and after meeting her husband in California they wanted to move back to this small town to raise their daughter and be close to grandparents. Our jobs have taken us back to California but, we hope to return to Port Angeles so are keeping Alder Street Retreat as a vacation rental and in the future as a retirement home for our family.

The waterview at Alder Street Retreat is impressive but, we really fell in love with the large, private backyard. We love to entertain and relax in our home and the flow from the kitchen to the backyard is so easy and convenient. Beyond the large backyard gate is the Sanctuary where you can pitch a tent or even bushwhack down into the ravine to explore. Behind the backyard fence is also a shortcut trail to Peninsula College, passed the blackberry bushes. Within a few minutes are trails behind Peninsula College into old growth forest and world-class birding. Walking to the Community Playhouse, the Fine Arts Center, our daughter's elementary school, and more, make this such a convenient location to get around without a car.

Upstairs seamlessly flows into the backyard with courtyard doors from the living room, hallway, and master bedroom. 2) WATERVIEW WITH PROTECTION FROM NORTH FACING WINDS: The backyard faces south bringing lots of sun into private backyard entertaining and relaxing, while also enjoying the water view through the windows facing north and also while protected from the north facing wind. This wind protection is a unique benefit of Alder Street Retreat because many north facing waterview homes in Port Angeles have their patios facing north, which means wind, shade, and cold. There is a huge temperature difference between the front of the house versus this home's backyard. As you're shopping for vacation rentals in Port Angeles, keep this in mind!! It is one of the many unique benefits of Alder Street Retreat, which will make your stay so much more enjoyable and comfortable! 3) DOWNSTAIRS PRIVACY: The downstairs is equipped with a family room (large flat screen TV), full bath, bedroom, extra sleeping blankets, pillows etc, and entrance from the carport. Downstairs offers desired privacy for teenagers or when sharing with multiple families. 4) THE SANCTUARY: The private sanctuary, just behind the backyard, is a perfect spot for you to enjoy a picnic or bring a tent and enjoy your own private campsite!
