Five seniors stayed at this lovely villa in Barga and we really enjoyed our stay. The villa is spacious and had everything we needed and room for all of us. The kitchen was stocked with pantry items and Charlene, the caretaker, brought us coffee, biscuits, milk, tea and wine when we checked in. There were plenty of pots & pans and dishes for cooking. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms were large. We spent most of our time (when it wasn't raining) on the spacious terrace that has an amazing view. The villa is in a great location - walking distance to Old Town Barga. We enjoyed Barga, even though there is a lot of uphill walking, and the beauty of the Garfagnana. Our favorite restaurant was L'Osteria - great food and friendly staff! The re-enactment of the Battle of Barga took place while we were there and we enjoyed seeing that and taking part in the festivities.
I would definitely recommend this villa for your holiday in Barga. Anthony and Charlene were always in communication and will answer any questions you have. The villa was clean and well stocked. It was unusually warm, humid and rainy when we were there and there was no air conditioning, but room fans were all we needed. The villa is in a great location to explore - we went to Lucca, Sommacolonia and the coast all within an hours drive.
The only negative of this villa is that there was a musty smell in the house, which was probably enhanced because of the humid weather and the age of the home.
The photos of this home are accurate - it's just as you see it. I loved it and I thank Anthony for sharing it with us. And, thanks to Charlene for the warm welcome!
