Charming flat in a steller locatio, but....
The studio flat was wonderfully decorated and smartly made into a two level studio. The hand painted wall designs were an elevated touch. Hats off to the designers. The building itself with the lush, well tended and quiet courtyard enhanced the charm. Trastevere is definitely a great part of town to stay. However, the big negative is that there is a late night/after hours karaoke club below and to the right of the flat. The nights it's open which in summer is most nights, the pounding had us tossing and turning on several nights. Others, sleeping pills and long outings rendered us so tired we managed to sleep through most of it, but still stirred by pickups in music. The music stopped around 4am. Then, the shiny perfect photos on Vrbo are certainaly reflective of how the place looks in RL, but lots of things are now broken or worn. The washing machine operating panel is damaged making difficult to use, the door hing is rusty causing one to quesion if using will stain clothes, towel and toilet paper racks coming off the walls in the bathroom, the sofa nicely presented in the photo, is beaten up and slight stained with throw pillows coming apart. The bath towels were clean, but some stained. Bedsheets also clean, but showing small stains. The utility closet in the kitchen, was a shambles with broken shelf and things strewn in unorganized. Some of the things in the utility closet were missing, broom, supplies, etc. One window shade was not working when we arrived, later fixed. This is a gem of an apartment and all off the latter small broken/missing things are super easy to fix and if done will make a guest feel like they are special and in a wonderful place. We loved the charm and uniqueness of the flat and the building. As well, other cool travelers were staying in the building which made it enjoyable place to be. However, the big caution here is that club. How such a thing can exist in a tightly integrated residential area is surprising, but if you are easily affected by noise, this might not be the first choice. The surpise of this is what has lowered are overall rating to a 2 which would otherwise be a 4 or perhaps 5 if all things were better maintained in the flat. To end on a more positive note, the management company Wonder Where To Stay was excellent. The team was responsive, accomotading when we arrived early, helpful when we had questions, pleasant in commuincations and customer focused.
