Nice with Serious Flaws

Nice location. Lots of construction noise, but that is true everywhere, as the town is growing rapidly. Nice staff; went beyond call of duty. Nice beds and sheets and pillows. Good enough kitchen. Air conditioning worked well in bedrooms, but not really needed for the entire night. Flaws: very low water pressure, takes forever to get hot water at a trickle. Floor is dirty due to sand and dirt tracked in. Nowhere comfortable to sit except at dining table. Living room has narrow, curved banquets that are uncomfortable. Safe. Nice water feature in courtyard with pleasant sounds. Large 3 BR and 3BR house. Not very aesthetically pleasing.

Perfect-o!!

3 blocks from the beach (fabulous swimming, sunning, pelican-diving) and restaurants (LOVED Aztec); Friday market day, grande crocodiles in the sanctuary, bird song and stars visible at night. The house was clean, cool, equipped with all you need to cook for yourself - with the bonus of sharp knives. The house is quiet and very easy to maneuver. Of course we’ll be back!!!! ☀️🏊‍♀️🌊🦐😎🐊🌞 🚤 !!

Close to everything

Nicely located home with comfortable space that includes 4 bathrooms. Internet service works very well and there is very little noise, even during the day. Not sure if we were the first ones to rent this season but the kitchen and downstairs bedroom were not aired out and had a ver strong mold/mildew smell. Kitchen is not equipped for extensive cooking, but small meals are fine. If you're into going out less and cooking at home, you can also bring something from home - like we did and cooked on our wok. While internet is great, the only space somewhat adequate for working is the kitchen table. Great place to hand out with a dog if you want to travel with your pet and overall pleasant stay for vacation in the area.

Dream Vacation

Casa Zoyatlán is a dream! Large well appointed home with everything you need. I’m still dreaming of those palm trees. It’s very serene with shady spots and a tranquil fountain. Lots of speedy supportive communications from the host and property manager. The gardener and housekeepers are lovely. La Manzanillla is a sweet little town with friendly people beautiful beaches and great food. This Casa is the perfect location of quiet neighbourhood, with a very short walk to beaches and town. I didn’t have a car and didn’t need one! I found comfort in the many options of seating areas. The house was cool and breezy inside and did not have any bug problems. Hot water and lots of pressure in the showers! I will not hesitate to recommend this rental and hope to visit again. Muchos Gracias!

Delightful stay!

This property was just lovely! We felt welcomed as soon as we entered the house: a thoughtful gift of bread, fruit, and essentials were in the refrigerator! So sweet! The house is in a perfect location to explore La Manzanilla and we found it to be exactly as in their photographs. We felt quite safe there. Everyone was so friendly. One little thing that stands out to me was that there was a brand new scrubbie pad in the kitchen, not someone else’s to wash dishes with. I felt that they really took the time to make us feel welcomed and valued. Great job!!!

I was born in Guanajuato and I am a citizen of Canada and Mexico, and a U.S. resident. I live with my partner and our son in Evanston IL, north of Chicago. I spend part of the year in Guanajuato and Jalisco. I am a sustainable business consultant and and online graduate professor. I also manage a few rental properties in Mexico. I like combining remote work with mobility and leisure time. I enjoy meeting people and having conversations about culture, society and spirituality. Due to the nature of my work, everywhere I travel, I need to have a quiet space with a reliable WiFi connection. I enjoy walks (even better if that comes with a nice conversation), a drink or two, and enjoy dancing immensely (Hip hop or anything catchy). Favorite dishes: Pretty much anything Thai. I am not an expert in the kitchen, and that is why I enjoy cooking with others! I like documentaries and Netflix binge watching, romantic comedy and spiritual movies. I enjoy a simple lifestyle and tend to connect better with people who are exposed to a variety of cultures. Something I am really proud: My family in Mexico hosts a farmers market every Sunday which continues to grow. When I travel, I spend time walking to museums, restaurants, events. When at home, I work on the computer, read, cook, meditate or simply enjoy the company of others. I also have had several experiences both as a host and a guest in Couchsurfing.

Perché ha scelto questa struttura

La Manzanilla is magical and quaint fishing village on the Pacific Coast. We fell in love with the local people. The European tourists and West Coast visitors. Our preference is rustic beauty and authentic meaningful times, not manicured or overly touristic experiences. If you feel the same, La Manzanilla is definitely for you. Based on our love for La Manzanilla, and our multiple trips there, we were finally able to build our dream home. The property where we built, used to be a palm tree field, thus the name Casa 'Zoyatlán' after the indigenous náhuatl word meaning such. It describes the wonderful feeling of being surrounded by coconut palm trees.

My partner and I built this home for our family vacations in Mexico. We built it using local talent in La Manzanilla. My sister Lety, who owns an architectural design studio in town, personally created some details in the house, such as the use of natural driftwood in the living space and kitchen, the red glass ornamented staircase and kitchen, the beautiful spiral staircase to the rooftop bar and our tranquil fountain on the property.

We've made numerous upgrades to the house over the years, the most recent one being the gorgeous rooftop terrace with spectacular views of town, the mountain and sunset.

Cosa rende unica questa struttura

We are three short blocks from the beach. This home is located on the flat lands of La Manzanilla, which allows you to go everywhere in town simply walking. Our guests always comment about the convenience of being so close to shops, restaurants, the beach and the main square. You can forget about driving during your stay!

Every bedroom has its own private bath. There is an additional restroom in the living room downstairs, so no need to share your private space! Two rooms upstairs have their own outdoor space and the room downstairs has a beautiful patio right outside its window overlooking the peaceful fountain. There are many spaces throughout the house that can 'absorb' everyone at different times of day, making it an incredible place to simply hangout the entire day resting, reading, enjoying views, birdwatching, cooking, meditating, watching your favorite Netflix show, entertaining guests or looking at the starry night sky. Don't be surprised if it takes you two hours to decide what to do next after resting in one of the hammocks under the spectacular palm trees.
